Information for supporters and interested parties

A shortened version is now available. Facial expressions and synchronization of text to mouth and music still need to be added. In other words, the work has just begun. Note the lady in red on the left edge of the picture.

This file is now available in the Special Folders for supporters: - 2K (1080p) for Silver Friends - 4K (2160p) for Gold Buddies
- 8K (4320p) for Platinum Pals Click on "Images taken in the past ..." at the bottom.

Short movie finished!

- Posted in New Stuff by

First, I would like to thank my executive producers, aka my supporters, for their patience and support. Six months of production for a few seconds is far too long, but due to my illness, I was unfortunately unable to work any faster. I came up with the idea for this short film in October 2004 when I saw "Buena Nacho" for the first time and Ann said, "If you need it... I have a suggestion." Unfortunately, the end result didn't turn out quite as I had imagined, it became a half radio play. I did not manage to deliver consistent drawing quality, and some of the programs I used were rather stubborn. I had big problems with the video editor, especially, but that's because of my small screen (21.5", 54.6 cm). I would actually need a much bigger screen, or even two. However, since I don't plan to start such a huge project again, my screen will suffice. In the future, I will probably only create short animated pictures.

Also, so-called AI for speech is still in its infancy, so most AI texts are far from what I actually wanted. Compromises are rarely satisfactory. I hope you like the final product, anyway, and that it meets your expectations.

I discarded the idea of creating a censored 720p version because it would require too much effort. However, I uploaded a 480p version to the Secret Lair (Silver), and anyone can share it on the usual websites. Gold users have access to the Silver Lair and Platinum users have access to all Lairs.

Please and thank you.

The file sizes are: 480p 17.4 MiB (for advertising) 720p 23.1 MiB (August 20 in Public Lair) 2k 34.8 MiB (Silver Lair) 4k 94.9 MiB (Gold Lair) 8k 203.8 MiB (Platinum Lair)

This file is now available in the Special Folders for supporters, in 2k (Silver, 1080p height), 4k (Gold, 2160p) or 8k (Platinum, 4320p) size depending on the tier.

There is an error in the jAlbum software. You won't find the movie under "latest upload." It is inside the "KP & Co" folder: KiMom007.mp4.

The censored version of Fred and Lauren that I posted on Newgrounds yesterday is no longer available. I have no idea why; I didn't receive a message. I used the standard "adults only" tags, but clearly someone disapproved. It's ridiculous. At least they could have left a message explaining why they did that.

Over the years, I've had trouble posting my own work several times. I've been blocked and kicked out of some R34 sites, which is why you won't find new stuff posted by me there anymore. I can't find the time to post anywhere; I'd rather keep working for you for as long as possible.

If you find the time to advertise for me by posting some of my stuff, that would be very helpful.

Please and thank you!

What's on TV?

- Posted in Work In Progress by

This short, six-picture animation is just a cutout of the final scene of the short movie KP: Busted. It has nothing to do with the story; I just needed an animation running on Possible's TV in the background. So it's nothing special.

By the way, only 720p versions of animations will be available in the Public Lair in the future.

This animation is now available in the Special Folders for supporters, in 2k (Silver, 1080p height), 4k (Gold, 2160p) or 8k (Platinum, 4320p) size depending on the tier. Click on "Images taken in the past ..." at the bottom.

The scene 18 animation is in progress. There will be one more of Shaniqua and one more of Kim, and then Ann will appear. I'm also searching for a nice moan for Shaniqua, which will be the last foreign voice. The next lines for Kim and Ann will be taken from the original series.

Platinum supporters can check the WIP folder on the main page to see how much the animation has grown so far.

Oops, RAM full? I just exported the latest version of KP: Busted as an MP4 video, and for the first time I received a warning that my memory is low. I don't play videos, so I don't need much memory on my PC. However, I don't know how Shotcut works. It looks like my 32 GB of memory won't be enough soon, and the animation is only halfway done. Currently it has a total length of 1:51 minutes and the 8k version is 71.8 MiB in size. I will try to find more information about Shotcut's memory usage, but the easiest solution would be to split the production into two videos that I can combine later rather than buying new RAM. It's frustrating that I've always had motherboards with four RAM slots, yet I've never needed more than two. Now, I can only replace the RAM instead of adding more because my current motherboard only has two slots.

Once again, I must complain about the AI voices. It's too early for such a production; the AI technique is still in its infancy. It's unfortunate that the voices sound a bit awkward. Searching the web for something more suitable would take too much time, and professional AI voices are out of my budget.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Update: Shotcut minimum system requirements: RAM: At least 4 GB for SD, 8 GB for HD, and 16 GB for 4K. No word about 8K, so I guess it will be 32GB. Seems I will have to get used to that warning message.

The animation "KP: Busted" is still in progress. Scene 17, which features Chaniqua, is currently being worked on and will be animated next. The project is halfway done. There are about three more scenes until Ann appears.

Best wishes and regards to PhillipThe2, who is working from home due to the flu. Get well soon, Phil! He sent me a new masterpiece, but I'm waiting to post it until the second version is finished.

Sometimes things just don't work out as planned. I deleted the first draft of the animation with Shaniqua Chulavista for scene 15. I think this new version will be much better. The plan is to have her speak a few words in Spanish that don't need translation. You know what I mean. ;)

I don't have to follow a strict script. When a new idea comes to me, I try to make it happen. However, I wonder about the sounds in a KP episode. I don't only mean music playing over the dialogue, which can't always be separated using an AI tool to isolate the speech. No, the sound itself is often distorted. It can even be seen sometimes when using a tool like OcenAudio. This is strange because the picture quality is excellent. However, it seems that compressing the sound (A52 codec, also known as AC3) drastically reduces the quality. Noises are also difficult to work with in dialogues, so AI is overstrained (currently still). Whether there were unwanted noises in the original sound is unknown to me. This means that I can't manipulate the original dialogue, such as making the text spoken slower or faster; the sound quality is too poor for that. Only in exceptional cases does this work.

In short, I can't use the original dialogues the way I'd like, and AI text-to-speech applications are still far from useful. They mostly read the given text as if someone were reading a letter. Professional applications are too expensive for me.

I have many great ideas for the dialogue in my short animation, but I can't use them the way I want to. I think it would be better to have no dialogue than subpar dialogue. I'll try my best.

Scene 14 is in progress, but I can’t say how many more scenes will come. The animation currently has a total length of one minute and 28 seconds. Platinum supporters can see it in the WIP folder.

Check the Scheduler/WIP tab for the actual status.
