Gagala News (G-log #3)

So far, I have edited together 26 seconds of dialogue between Candace and Lindana. It's actually far too much text, but it fits so well that I would like to use all of it for the animation. The problem, however, is that it takes far too long for a beginner like me to match the text to reasonably appropriate mouth movements. The poor sound quality in some episodes can be compensated for by the music and sound effects. But I don't want to work on it for too long and keep my supporters waiting forever. So the animation will be paused until further notice.

I'm now starting preparations for page 11 of the comix “KP's Last Mission.”

A shortened version is now available. Facial expressions and synchronization of text to mouth and music still need to be added. In other words, the work has just begun. Note the lady in red on the left edge of the picture.

The background is finished with 14 frames in an endless loop. Candace and Linda are currently at work, but a lot of decisions still have to be made. I hate that. If I don't include clothing and create just three frames of movement, the animation would already be finished. But... I have some text that would fit this animation perfectly: some of Linda's text and some of Candace's. Animating their mouths to fit the spoken words is very hard, and there has to be music in the background as well. Now, I have to decide which text to use. It should be as short as possible. Should they both be dressed? I think the answer is yes to fit the situation. I will make a short version for supporters only. The long version will take some time. As always. I wish I could afford professional software like the professionals use. Thanks for your patience.

About Kiki: Work on page 34 of The Tale of Kiki Possible is now in progress. The text and layout are finished. This work file of Kiki is now available to supporters. It was supposed to be the tiny cover because Act Two of the story has begun. However, I rejected it and used Kim's house as the background, which fits better. Frame 2 is now in progress.

About the Secret Lair (public version): All public Secret Lair entries, which are currently 1080p in height, will be reduced to 720p in size until tomorrow. The size of comics will remain the same.

Used applications: Inkscape version 1.4.2 (f48b429, 2025-09-25) is currently running well, while version 1.5 is still problematic. As long as I don't run into too many issues, everything is fine. However, XnView MP (version 1.9.3) is starting to cause problems, though I can't say whether it's XnView or my OS that's causing them. Too many changes have been made to Xubuntu, and they haven't been good. There's an old saying: "Too many cooks spoil the broth."

In private: I have had a lot of trouble with my car: the biennial technical inspection, new rims and tires, and now a big, rusty hole has appeared under the door sills. The pre-heater hasn't worked for years. I doubt that I can afford all these repairs. Thanks to all my supporters, I have purchased an eBike with a 49% discount. I may have to get rid of my car and live with the eBike only.
